Job summary

Immunocore Ltd. in the United Kingdom seeks a Senior Scientist I - Characterisation to drive protein characterisation programs within the CMC space.

You will develop and apply LC-MS/MS peptide mapping, glycosylation analyses, and mass spectrometry-based Characterisation methods for recombinant proteins and antibodies, spanning microbial and mammalian expression systems. Strong collaboration and rigorous data reporting are essential.

Qualifications

• Essential: Experience in development of HPLC based peptide mapping methods and mass spectrometric characterisation of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Essential: Experience of glycosylation analysis of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Independently coordinated extensive testing of protein biomolecules.
• Experienced in the characterisation of proteins expressed in both microbial and mammalian systems.
• Understanding of expected post-translational modifications in biological systems.
• Worked in a bench-based biopharmaceutical laboratory environment.
• Established as an expert amongst peers in electrophoretic, chromatographic or mass spectrometry methods.
• Experienced in assay development.
• Familiar with biopharmaceutical stability study principles and interpretation thereof.
• Worked and contributed actively in a diverse team environment.
• Proposed and driven changes in working practices that have improved efficiency and supported teams through adoption.
• Presented detailed scientific findings and papers to internal and external audiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop HPLC-based peptide mapping methods and MS characterisation for recombinant proteins/antibodies.
• Perform glycosylation analysis of recombinant proteins/antibodies.
• Coordinate extensive testing of protein biomolecules.
• Characterise proteins expressed in microbial and mammalian systems.
• Understand and interpret post-translational modifications.
• Maintain bench-based laboratory standards and records.
• Mentor colleagues and share analytical knowledge across teams.
• Present research findings to colleagues, senior management and external partners.
