Job summary

Immunocore is seeking a Senior Scientist I - Characterisation to drive analytical development for biopharmaceutical products. The role covers peptide mapping (LC-MS/MS), intact mass analysis, and advanced MS-based characterisation of monoclonal antibodies and related proteins.

You will work across microbial and mammalian expression systems, contribute to stability studies, and help shape new characterisation methods within a collaborative, inclusive team culture.

Qualifications

• Experience with peptide mapping via HPLC and MS-based characterisation of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Glycosylation analysis of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Independent testing and coordination of protein biomolecule assays.
• Characterisation of proteins expressed in microbial and mammalian systems.
• Understanding of PTMs in biological systems.
• Bench-based biopharmaceutical laboratory experience.
• Expertise in electrophoretic, chromatographic and mass spectrometry techniques.

Responsibilities

• Support impurity characterisation of drug substances/products.
• Develop and characterise process intermediates for substance/product development.
• Contribute to development of characterisation methods for ImmTAX and related products (LC-MS/MS, intact mass).
• Design and perform biochemical characterisation, chemical stability and comparability studies of biologics/drug products.
• Contribute to study protocols and reports; present findings to teams and partners.
• Provide technical guidance and mentor colleagues; drive efficient working practices.
