Immunocore is seeking a Senior Scientist I - Characterisation to advance biopharmaceutical programmes. The role focuses on protein/molecule characterisation using LC-MS/MS, mass spectrometry, and stability studies, with responsibilities spanning method development, data interpretation, and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced R&D environment.

The candidate will contribute to characterisation methods, support process development, and present findings to senior management and partners.

Qualifications

• Experience in development of HPLC based peptide mapping methods and mass spectrometric characterisation of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Experience of glycosylation analysis of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Independently coordinated extensive testing of protein biomolecules.
• Experienced in the characterisation of proteins expressed in both microbial and mammalian systems.
• Understanding of expected post-translational modifications in biological systems.
• Bench-based biopharmaceutical laboratory environment experience.
• Established as an expert amongst peers in electrophoretic, chromatographic or mass spectrometry.
• Experienced in assay development.
• Familiar with biopharmaceutical stability study principles and interpretation thereof.
• Worked and contributed actively in a diverse team environment.
• Proposed and driven changes in working practices that have improved efficiency and supported teams through adoption and change.
• Presented detailed scientific findings and papers to internal and external audiences.

Responsabilités

• Support impurity characterisation and identification for drug substance and drug product.
• Characterise process intermediates to support drug substance/product development.
• Contribute to writing study protocols and reports.
• Design and perform biochemical characterisation, chemical stability and comparability studies.
• Contribute to development of characterisation methods, including peptide mapping (LC-MS/MS) and intact mass analysis.
• Independently testing and leading lines of investigation; propose new experiments based on data.
