Job summary

Novax Recruitment Ltd. is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a specialist structural steel fabricator near Loughborough. You will influence profitability from tender and cost planning through to variations, forecasting and final accounts.

You will work with Estimators, Project Managers and production teams across rail, highways, energy and construction sectors, ensuring commercial control and value delivery. Read drawings, manage NEC/JCT contracts and drive commercial outcomes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working on construction, fabrication or specialist engineering contracts.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• The ability to read and understand fabrication and engineering drawings.
• Experience working with NEC, JCT or similar forms of contract.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost plans, tenders and commercial submissions for structural steel packages.
• Measuring and valuing works throughout the project lifecycle.
• Managing interim applications and valuations to ensure work completed is properly recovered.
• Identifying, pricing and negotiating variations and additional works.
• Forecasting project final accounts, costs and cash flow.
• Monitoring project performance and highlighting commercial risks before they impact margin.
• Administering subcontract and supply-chain packages.
• Reviewing supplier and subcontractor costs against agreed allowances and budgets.
• Supporting commercial negotiations with clients and suppliers.
• Working closely with Project Managers, Estimators and production teams to maintain commercial control.
• Supporting value-engineering exercises to identify savings without compromising quality, safety or project requirements.
• Preparing and agreeing final accounts and ensuring commercial issues are closed out efficiently.
• Capturing commercial lessons from completed projects to improve future estimating and project performance.
