A residential construction firm in Stockport is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager to independently manage the commercial department. The role involves overseeing residential projects of 20-100 units and enhancing operational systems. With a salary range of £80,000 to £100,000 and the opportunity for bonuses, it’s perfect for candidates wanting to avoid the politics of larger firms. Flexible work-from-home policy is also included.
Are you a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager who'd like the chance to run a department more or less how you want to run it, without the interference or handcuffs of senior brass above, and get paid the top dollar for it, too?
This Stockport based business could be the one you're looking for. They're a small residential new build firm, dealing with HA's to build stock in the Greater Manchester area. These units are anything from 20 up to around 100 and at the moment are apartment heavy so if you've experience building traditional build and steel frame schemes they'd want to hear from you.
The management here is streamlined - you'd be taking up a brand-new role that the M.D. has been doing - and making that your own and doing the usual stuff any Senior would do - meeting clients on valuations, attending progress meetings, meeting the client side QS, working out better costs with the sub-contractors etc.
Where I reckon this is a top opportunity is that you'll be pretty much running this side yourself, putting in your own systems, bringing your own expertise and value to a role that is yours for the taking. We're going to be talking a maximum of 3 live sites (at the minute there's 2) as the MD has done the big firm thing in the past, now he wants to keep everything as refined as possible, so it's always going to be manageable with the company turning over a maximum of 10 million.
Ideally, he's looking for someone who's been there, done it and wears the 'Trust me, I'm a Quantity Surveyor' and you'd probably have worked for a smaller company before (just so you get the nuances). But if you've worked for both (say, PLC and private) that would work. It's really going to fit you if you've still got that drive to improve but don't want the politics of a larger firm anymore.
They're accepting applicants for a quick interview and start and will be looking to offer a flat salary between GBP80,000 to GBP100,000 for the right person with a bonus and incentive package open to negotiation - oh, and did I mention they have a WFH policy? If all that sounds good then apply to this role or drop me a line and let's get this thing moving.
If this sounds like an opportunity for you then please press APPLY on this page or call me. I am the Director of Herrera Homes, my name is John Kirkham, and I am acting on behalf of the client so if you want to contact me directly please get in touch with me on the usual channels via my direct dial, mobile number or emailing me at work.
