Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Newport

Salary: Up to £65,000 + Package

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a growing main contractor delivering refurbishment and construction projects across South Wales and the wider region. This role offers real commercial ownership, autonomy and the chance to play a key part in a business with a strong forward pipeline.

You’ll lead the commercial function on live projects, working closely with operational teams while supporting junior commercial staff as the business continues to expand.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for:

• Leading commercial delivery on refurbishment and new build projects.
• Preparing budgets, forecasts and cost plans.
• Managing subcontract procurement and negotiations.
• Overseeing valuations, variations and monthly CVRs.
• Managing final accounts and commercial close-out.
• Supporting project managers and site teams with cost control.
• Producing commercial reports for senior management.
• Mentoring Assistant and Intermediate QS staff.

About You

• Proven experience as a Senior QS within a main contractor environment.
• Strong understanding of JCT contracts and commercial processes.
• Confident managing projects independently from start to finish.
• Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Commercially astute with strong reporting and forecasting ability.
• Proactive, organised and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
