Job summary

Ignite Talent Group Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established main contractor from their North East office. You will take lead on commercial activities from procurement through to final account across major regional projects.

You will work closely with Project Managers and the wider team, manage budgets, forecasts and cash flow, and mentor junior staff. The role offers up to £80,000 plus a £6,000 car allowance and a benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting environment, managing £15m+ projects.
  • Strong commercial and contractual knowledge across procurement through to final account.
  • Experience with JCT and/or NEC contracts.
  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to mentor junior commercial team members.

Responsibilities

  • Taking lead commercial responsibility across projects valued between £15m-£60m, managing projects from procurement through to completion and final account
  • Preparing and managing project budgets, cost plans, forecasts and cash flow
  • Leading subcontractor procurement and managing key commercial packages
  • Preparing, reviewing and negotiating subcontract orders and contracts
  • Managing monthly valuations, applications, payment processes and cost reporting
  • Managing commercial performance and identifying commercial risks and opportunities
  • Managing variations, change control and contractual issues throughout the project lifecycle
  • Reviewing and agreeing subcontractor accounts and final accounts
  • Providing commercial and contractual advice to the wider project team while building strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the commercial team

Senior Quantity Surveyor - Main Contractor

North East | Up to £80,000 + £6,000 Car Allowance + Benefits

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team of a well-established main contractor, based from their North East office.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior QS to join a growing regional operation and take commercial responsibility across a range of major construction projects throughout the North East.

The business has a strong pipeline of work, with projects typically ranging from £15m-£60m across a variety of sectors including residential, industrial, commercial, logistics, public sector and mixed-use developments.

The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take lead commercial responsibility across your projects from procurement through to completion and final account.

You will work closely with the Project Manager, Contracts Manager and wider commercial team, providing commercial and contractual advice and ensuring projects are delivered in line with agreed budgets, forecasts and commercial targets.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong background working for a main contractor.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting environment, with experience managing projects of £15m+
  • Strong commercial and contractual knowledge, with experience managing major subcontract packages from procurement through to final account
  • Strong understanding of cost reporting, forecasting and cash flow, with experience managing variations, change and commercial risk
  • Strong knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts
  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with experience working closely with Project Managers, Contracts Managers and clients
