Job summary

Ignite Talent Group is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established main contractor’s commercial team in the North East. You will provide full commercial support across projects, working with project teams to meet financial and contractual targets on major schemes ranging £15m+.

The role offers development towards Senior Quantity Surveyor with mentorship from senior commercial leaders and a clear progression path, plus discretionary bonus and private medical insurance as

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting environment.
• Experience on projects £15m+.
• Strong commercial and contractual knowledge.
• Experience with subcontract procurement and package management.
• Good cost reporting, forecasting and final accounts.
• Experience with JCT and/or NEC contracts.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Relevant Quantity Surveying degree or equivalent qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Commercial management of projects from procurement through to completion.
• Managing project budgets, cost reporting, forecasting and cash flow.
• Subcontractor procurement, package management and subcontract administration.
• Monthly valuations, applications, payments and measurement of works.
• Managing variations, change control, commercial risk and final accounts.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team of a well-established main contractor, based from their North East office.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join a growing regional operation, working on a range of major construction projects across the North East.

The business has a strong pipeline of work, with projects typically ranging from £15m–£60m across a variety of sectors including residential, industrial, commercial, logistics and public sector.

The Role

The successful Quantity Surveyor will provide full commercial support across projects, working closely with the wider project and commercial teams to ensure projects are delivered to their financial and contractual targets.

• Commercial management of projects from procurement through to completion
• Managing project budgets, cost reporting, forecasting and cash flow
• Subcontractor procurement, package management and subcontract administration
• Monthly valuations, applications, payments and measurement of works

About You

We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor with experience working for a main contractor, ideally with exposure to projects of £15m+.

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting environment
• Experience working on projects of £15m+
• Strong commercial and contractual knowledge
• Experience with subcontract procurement and package management
• Good understanding of cost reporting, forecasting and final accounts
• Experience working with JCT and/or NEC contracts
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Relevant Quantity Surveying degree or equivalent qualification preferred

There are clear pathways in place to help Quantity Surveyors progress towards Senior Quantity Surveyor level, with structured development and increasing responsibility as you develop.
