Job summary

Building Careers UK is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a renowned main contractor in Lancashire. The role covers the commercial delivery of multiple projects from pre-contract through to final account, managing cost plans, valuations, variations, and final accounts.

You will procure and manage subcontractor packages, deliver CVRs and forecasts, and monitor project costs to maximise commercial performance while building strong client, consultant, and supplier relationships.

Qualifications

• Senior Quantity Surveyor with main contractor experience.
• Strong commercial awareness and contractual knowledge.
• Experience delivering projects across sectors and lifecycle management.
• Experience with JCT and/or NEC contracts is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial delivery of multiple construction projects from pre-contract to final account.

With a strong pipeline of secured work and continued investment across the business, they are now seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their commercial team.

The Role

• Managing the commercial delivery of multiple construction projects from pre-contract through to final account
• Preparing and managing cost plans, valuations, variations, and final accounts
• Procuring and managing subcontractor packages
• Producing accurate CVRs, cost forecasts, and commercial reports
• Monitoring project costs and ensuring commercial performance is maximised
• Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle
• Administering contracts and ensuring contractual compliance
• Working closely with Project Managers and operational teams to deliver projects on time and within budget
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and key stakeholders
• Supporting and mentoring junior members of the commercial team where required

The Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a Main Contractor environment
• Experience delivering projects across sectors such as education, healthcare, commercial, industrial, residential, or public sector developments
• Strong knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts
• Excellent commercial awareness and contractual knowledge
• Experience managing projects through the full commercial lifecycle
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities
• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
• Membership of RICS or working towards chartered status would be advantageous
