Job summary

Ignite Talent Group Ltd is recruiting an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team of a well-established main contractor in the North East. This role offers exposure across £15m-£60m projects and a clear path to progression within a growing regional contractor.

You will support budgets, cost plans, procurement and subcontract management on major schemes, with up to £40,000 salary, up to £4,000 car allowance and a discretionary bonus. The position is based from the North East office.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Graduate Quantity Surveyor within construction.
• Ideally some experience working for a main contractor, although strong consultancy/PQS backgrounds will also be considered.
• A relevant Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management degree, or be working towards one.
• Good understanding of construction contracts, procurement and subcontract management.
• Strong numerical and commercial skills with good attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and the ability to build relationships with project teams and the supply chain.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the commercial management of projects valued between £15m-£60m.
• Assisting with project budgets, cost plans, forecasts and commercial reporting.
• Supporting subcontractor procurement, tendering and package management.
• Assisting with the preparation and administration of subcontract orders and contracts.
• Managing subcontractor valuations, applications and payment processes alongside the wider commercial team.
• Assisting with monthly cost and value reports, forecasts and cash flow.
• Supporting the management of variations, change control and commercial risks.
• Assisting with the review and agreement of subcontractor accounts and final accounts.
• Working closely with the project team to identify commercial opportunities and potential issues.
• Building relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, clients and consultants.
• Supporting Senior Quantity Surveyors and gaining exposure to the wider commercial management of projects.

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team of a well-established main contractor, based from their North East office.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their commercial career within a main contracting environment, working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and Senior Commercial Managers across a range of major construction projects.

The business has a strong pipeline of work, with projects typically ranging from £15m-£60m across sectors including residential, industrial, commercial, logistics, public sector and mixed-use developments.

The Role

As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial team across the full project lifecycle, gaining hands-on experience across procurement, cost management, subcontractor management, valuations, reporting and final accounts.

You will work closely with Quantity Surveyors, Senior Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers and Contracts Managers, developing your commercial knowledge while taking increasing responsibility across your projects.
