Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Take commercial responsibility for civils projects from contract award through to final account.
• Manage valuations, applications for payment and cash flow.
• Prepare and manage cost reports and forecasts.
• Manage subcontractor accounts, payments and variations.
• Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
• Review contracts and manage contractual obligations.
• Manage change, compensation events and variations.
• Support procurement and subcontractor tendering.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers and Engineers.
• Manage client and subcontractor relationships.
• Prepare and agree final accounts.
• Provide commercial reporting to senior management.
• Support and mentor junior commercial staff where required.

Senior Quantity Surveyor - Civils

Location: North East

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

Job Type: Permanent

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join an established civil engineering contractor delivering a range of projects across the North East.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, groundworks and infrastructure, with experience managing the commercial delivery of projects from start to finish.

The Role

• Taking commercial responsibility for civils projects from contract award through to final account
• Managing valuations, applications for payment and cash flow
• Preparing and managing cost reports and forecasts
• Managing subcontractor accounts, payments and variations
• Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
• Reviewing contracts and managing contractual obligations
• Managing change, compensation events and variations
• Supporting procurement and subcontractor tendering
• Working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers and Engineers
• Managing client and subcontractor relationships
• Preparing and agreeing final accounts
• Providing commercial reporting to senior management
• Supporting and mentoring junior commercial staff where required

About You

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering/groundworks
• Strong knowledge of roads, sewers, drainage, earthworks and infrastructure
• Experience managing projects and commercial teams
• Strong understanding of NEC and/or other construction contracts
• Commercially astute with excellent negotiation skills
• Experience managing subcontractors and client accounts
• Strong understanding of cost control, forecasting and financial reporting
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification or equivalent experience
• Strong civils experience is essential.
