Job description
Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Based in London E14 5HP, covering the surrounding area and other UK sites when required.

Hours of work: 40

Contract Type: Permanent

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take full commercial ownership of multiple projects, primarily within fit-out and M&E sectors.

This role involves managing 5-6 projects simultaneously, ensuring governance and compliance throughout the lifecycle from concept to closeout. You will spend approximately two days per week on-site, with additional travel as required.

Job Description

The successful candidate will bring significant experience in commercial management within building maintenance, ideally in banking or corporate environments.

You will demonstrate expertise in construction contracts, procurement strategies, and cost management, as well as strong leadership skills to support and coach teams in delivering high-quality projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all commercial aspects of projects from concept through to final approval, delivery, and closeout.
  • Ensure adherence to governance processes and client/ISS approval gateways.
  • Advise on procurement strategies and building costs, including valuations and final accounts.
  • Administer and interpret construction contracts effectively.
  • Lead supplier contract management and drive value throughout contract terms.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies, including market research, RFI/RFQ, and contract development.
  • Report commercial positions and Earned Value status to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure Health & Safety compliance, including CDM requirements, across all projects.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
  • Significant experience in commercial management within building maintenance, preferably in banking/corporate environments.
  • Proven ability to manage construction contracts up to £10m and work in live environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety compliance and CDM regulations.
  • Experience taking projects from concept through full design stage to approval.
  • Skilled in estimating costs and preparing high-quality tender documents.
  • IT literate with AUTOCAD, MS Office (including MS Project), and mobile software applications.
  • Ability to manage and coach teams effectively.
  • QS Degree and Associate RICS membership.
