Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to support the implementation of a new 25kV isolation standard across the Eastern Region. This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe and compliant delivery, working closely with Delivery Units (DU), engineering teams, and other stakeholders to embed the new standard and assess residual electrical hazards.

Job Title: Senior Project Engineer

Location: Peterborough

Duration: 9 months contract

Rate: £600-£700 per day (Inside IR35)

Responsibilities

• Ensure route compliance with the new isolation standard in line with the project implementation plan.
• Lead the development of residual electrical risk hazard registers with Delivery Units.
• Manage and develop solutions for signalling risk assessments required as part of the transition.
• Deliver technical briefings at both DU and Control levels.
• Promote and instil Level 1 Assurance activities within DU regimes.
• Support safety review processes, hazard workshops, and mentoring activities.
• Collaborate on post-implementation analysis, documentation updates, and transfer of active derogations.
• Drive close-out of safety and assurance actions, ensuring a smooth transition to the new standard.

Qualifications

• Strong background in rail engineering, with proven experience in electrical isolation and safety standards.
• Experience as a Project Engineer within major rail infrastructure programmes.
• Ability to lead technical workshops, safety briefings, and assurance activities.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of risk management, hazard analysis, and assurance frameworks.
• HNC or equivalent
