Location: Suffolk (Hybrid working available)

Contract: Permanent

Our client is delivering one of the UK's largest and most complex infrastructure programmes and is seeking a Senior Project Controls Manager to join the expanding Sizewell C (SZC) project team. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role on a nationally significant project that will support the UK's long-term energy security and Net Zero ambitions.

The Project

Sizewell C is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, following the success of Hinkley Point C. Now in construction and moving towards private investment, SZC will provide reliable electricity to approximately 6 million homes for up to 60 years, forming a critical part of the UK's low-carbon energy mix.

The Role

Reporting into the Head of Programme Controls (Technical & Engineering), you will support the Technical and Engineering Directorate by delivering integrated, forward‑looking project controls that drive performance, assurance and continuous improvement.

You will operate within the Project Controls Centre of Excellence and will be responsible for ensuring all project controls activities are delivered efficiently, aligned with governance requirements and reporting calendars, and driven by a digital‑by‑default approach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Day‑to‑day leadership of the sub‑programme Project Controls team covering schedule, cost, risk, change, reporting and insights
  • Delivering best‑in‑class, integrated project controls across technical and engineering scope
  • Implementing industry best practice across schedule, cost, risk, baseline and change management
  • Supporting functional leads with progress reporting, forecasting, variance analysis and performance improvement
  • Establishing and maintaining project controls systems, tools, processes and work instructions
  • Liaising with and assuring supply chain project controls data and reporting
  • Accountability for accurate and timely month‑end performance reporting
  • Implementing effective assurance and lines‑of‑defence processes
  • Coaching and developing senior project controls professionals
  • Supporting knowledge sharing and representing the project as an exemplar of project controls excellence
About You

You will be a highly experienced Project Controls professional with a proven track record on large, complex infrastructure programmes.

Essential experience and qualifications
  • Degree (or equivalent) in construction, engineering, finance, project management or a related discipline
  • Significant experience in a senior Project Controls Management role
  • Strong experience across cost control, estimating, scheduling, change and risk management
  • Detailed understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Experience managing multi‑disciplinary teams within a matrix environment
  • Ability to engage, influence and challenge senior stakeholders
  • Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability
  • Advanced user of project controls systems and reporting tools, particularly Power BI
  • Knowledge of NEC and FIDIC forms of contract
Desirable
  • Experience within the nuclear or regulated infrastructure sector
  • Membership of AACE, PMI, APM or similar professional body
  • Relevant professional certifications
What's On Offer
  • A key leadership role on one of the UK's most significant infrastructure programmes
  • The opportunity to shape and influence world‑class project controls delivery
  • Flexible, hybrid and part‑time working options (subject to role requirements)
  • An inclusive working environment that supports professional growth and development
