Job summary

AECOM Energy is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to support grid connection and power system studies across the UK and Ireland. You will contribute to feasibility, siting, and commissioning activities for renewable energy projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

The role requires proficiency in PSCAD, PowerFactory, PSSE/ETAP and Python scripting, with strong knowledge of UK Grid Code requirements and transmission planning. A hybrid working arrangement is offered.

Qualifications

• Proven relevant professional experience in Engineering Design Consultancy, OEM, or utility network planning and connections.
• Strong understanding of UK Grid Code, G99, G5/5, P28 and guidelines for connecting new generators and loads (Ireland Grid Code beneficial).
• Proficient in PSCAD, PowerFactory and Python scripting.
• Experience with PSSE and ETAP is desirable.
• Knowledge of high voltage substation equipment, transmission lines, reactors, transformers, and protection principles.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of electrical design through power system studies.
• Undertake detailed power system/grid code compliance studies with PSCAD/PowerFactory/PSS/E.
• Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
• Undertake grid connection due diligence including prospecting, optioneering and capacity assessment.
• Develop construction cost estimates and technical effort estimates for projects.
• Perform quality control reviews of design calculations and drawings.
• Prepare technical specification sections.
• Contribute to development of engineering budget and schedule.
• Liaise with OEMs and clients to drive technical outcomes.
• Support bids and proposals.
