Job summary

the company in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join our engineering team and champion the deployment architecture that drives platform maturity. You’ll be embedded with engineering squads, optimizing day-to-day delivery across our on-premise estate while shaping and rolling out our Kubernetes platform to modernise how we deploy and scale workloads.

This is a hands-on role with real impact.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills: teamwork is paramount and clear collaboration is essential.
• Strong, demonstrable experience with Ansible: roles, inventories, vault, idempotency.
• Comfortable with Docker and Docker Compose in production environments.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals.
• Strong scripting ability: Bash and Python.
• Experience with GitOps tooling: ArgoCD or Flux.
• Experience with observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Alertmanager).
• Ability to think creatively within constraints and plan pragmatically around existing stack.
• Security-conscious approach to deployment and operations.

Responsibilities

• Utilise and contribute to Ansible-based deployment automation for feature releases.
• Monitor cluster health and drive incident response and post-mortems.
• Maintain deployment runbooks, documentation, and self-service guides for onboarding and releases.
• Represent Engineering in platform design and shape self-service workflows and guardrails for Kubernetes.
• Standardise configurations within namespaces for ingress, RBAC, and secrets management.
• Drive phased migrations of workloads to Kubernetes starting with non-critical environments.
• Build CI/CD pipelines for Kubernetes deployments with automated guardrails.
• Implement application observability and provide developers with visibility into workload health.
