Job summary

AECOM in the UK is seeking a Senior OHL Engineer to lead the overhead line design for high‑voltage transmission projects up to 400 kV. You will provide technical support, contribute to multi‑discipline design, and work on major programmes including the Great Grid Upgrade.

You'll be Chartered or working towards CEng, with UK project delivery experience, strong communication, and the ability to write proposals and deliverables for clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
• CEng Chartered Engineer with a recognised electrical engineering institution (IET).
• Experience delivering UK transmission projects and overhead lines up to 400 kV.

Responsibilities

• Provide project technical support and be responsible for design of transmission projects up to 400 kV.
• Deliver overhead line design on complex multi‑discipline projects.
• Contribute to large programmes like National Grid Great Grid Partnership.
• Support in writing proposals with timelines, resources, budgets and goals.
• Provide input through project implementation, planning and public consultation events.
• Perform design activities including PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, and clearance reports.
• Support feasibility studies, conductor thermal ratings and regulatory compliance.
• Originate and check engineering deliverables such as reports and drawings.
• Conduct internal quality checks of drawings and calculations.
