Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior OHL Engineer to lead overhead line design for UK transmission projects, including 400kV work, within the Transmission & Distribution team.

You will provide technical support across multi-discipline projects, contribute to large programmes like the Great Grid Partnership, and work on feasibility studies, design criteria, and client deliverables. Hybrid working and career development opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
• CEng Chartered Engineer with a recognised electrical engineering institution (IET).
• Experience delivering UK projects for transmission systems operators (e.g. National Grid, SSE, SPT).
• Overhead line engineering experience up to 400kV.

Responsibilities

• Provide project technical support and design for overhead transmission lines up to 400kV.
• Deliver overhead line design on complex multi-discipline projects.
• Involvement in large programmes like GGP projects.
• Support in writing proposals with timelines, resources, budgets, and objectives.
• Provide input throughout project implementation and public consultations.
• Lead design activities: PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, structural analysis, sag-tension calculations, insulator/conductor selection.
• Feasibility studies and conformance with industry standards.
• Produce engineering deliverables and drawings; perform internal QC.
