Job summary

AECOM in the United Kingdom is seeking a Transmission & Distribution engineer to lead overhead line design on complex multi-disciplinary projects, including the National Grid Great Grid Upgrade. You will work with a team delivering technically challenging designs and support feasibility studies.

You will model with PLS-CADD, perform sag-tension calculations, contribute to proposals, and ensure quality checks. A bachelor’s degree and CEng are preferred; strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered Engineer with IET or equivalent.
• Experience delivering UK T&D projects preferred.
• Overhead line experience up to 400kV desirable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support in overhead line design on multi-discipline projects.
• Involvement in large programmes like UK T&D upgrades.
• Support in proposals, detailing timelines, resources and budgets.
• Provide input through project implementation, planning and public consultations.
• Design activities include PLS-CADD modelling, sag-tension, analysis, and selection of conductors/insulators.
• Conduct feasibility studies and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Prepare and check engineering deliverables and drawings.
• Perform internal quality checks of calculations and drawings.
