Job summary

The Nottingham Building Society is seeking a Head of Mortgage Underwriting at Head Office in Nottingham. This hybrid role (minimum 2 days per week in the office) carries strategic responsibility for origination, underwriting and portfolio management across residential, buy-to-let and specialist lending.

You will lead and develop high-performing teams, ensure robust underwriting standards, drive efficiency, and manage relationships with brokers, solicitors and partners.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience across mortgage origination, underwriting and portfolio management.
• Strong understanding of responsible lending and mortgage operations best practice.
• In-depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks including MCOB and FCA requirements.
• Proven experience leading high-performing operational teams and coaching colleagues.
• Analytical skills to interpret MI, KPIs and performance data.
• Experience in regulated environments, risk management and change initiatives.
• Outstanding stakeholder management and communication skills.

• Shape and deliver the Mortgage Origination and Underwriting strategy.
