Job summary

Octane Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician to service, maintain and repair vehicles at customers’ homes or workplaces. This role offers a permanent, full-time contract and a home-based schedule, typically 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30am–5pm with one Saturday per month.

Overtime paid at time and a half, with optional extra Saturdays. Base pay is £40,178 with OTE in excess of £52,000.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
• A customer-focused approach.
• Must have a full UK driving licence – max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) at the customer’s selected location, e.g. driveway or office car park.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.
