Job summary

Turner & Townsend seeks an experienced Engineering Design Manager to lead multi-disciplinary design on major national infrastructure projects. You will ensure buildable, compliant and innovative designs from concept through delivery, working closely with clients and a supportive project team.

The role demands a minimum of five years’ experience delivering design through the full lifecycle, strong BIM knowledge, CAD skills (AutoCAD/Revit) and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience managing design through the full project lifecycle.
• Strong understanding of integrated design delivery and consultant performance.
• Knowledge and experience of BIM and common data environments.
• Degree in engineering (Mechanical or Building Services).
• Chartered Engineer status preferred with CIBSE/IMechE or similar.
• Passionate about construction and customer satisfaction with high standards.
• Strong knowledge of construction work types and design solutions.
• Experience with CAD (AutoCAD or Revit).
• Excellent communication with clients and staff.
• Self-driven and results-oriented.
• People and time management alongside project design management.

Responsibilities

• Lead design input on multi-disciplinary projects from concept to delivery.
• Manage external design consultants and ensure contract duties are met.
• Oversee technical assurance, constructability reviews, and design interfaces.
• Coordinate across civil, structural, geotechnical, mechanical and electrical disciplines.
• Liaise with clients and project teams on scope changes and risks.
• Develop innovative, practical and sustainable engineering solutions.
• Embed health, safety and environmental considerations in designs.
• Ensure designs are buildable, maintainable and reliable across lifecycle.
