Job summary

Glanua is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead mechanical design outputs for water, wastewater, and process projects across Ireland and the UK. You will report to the Head of Mechanical Design and mentor junior engineers while ensuring safety, quality, and client satisfaction.

The role requires hands-on delivery, coordination with Civil, Structural, EICA, and Process teams, and the ability to generate construction-ready packages, P&IDs, and 3D models.

Qualifications

• Bachelor/Master in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Candidate actively pursuing Incorporated/ Chartered status.
• 7–10 years of mechanical design experience in water/wastewater/process.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design outputs across all project stages (site surveys, optioneering, feasibility, detailed design, tender pricing).
• Develop and review mechanical designs, calculations, and specifications for pumps, pipework, tanks, HVAC, and process equipment.
• Produce GA drawings, equipment schedules, P&IDs, procurement specs, hydraulic calculations, construction-ready packages.
• Resolve complex technical issues with engineering judgement and document decisions clearly.
• Own mechanical design interfaces with Civil/Structural, EICA, and Process disciplines; support BIM with Plant 3D/Revit MEP.
• Mentor junior engineers, participate in design reviews and safety studies, manage design delivery milestones.
