Job summary

Co-op Group is seeking a Principal Identity and Access Manager in Manchester, offering hybrid work between home and office. The role leads the IAM function, shaping how access is managed, with a focus on security and resilience, while coaching IAM professionals to build capability for the future.

You will work with architecture, engineering and security teams to implement modern identity solutions and drive risk-aware delivery in a large, member-owned UK organisation.

Qualifications

• Significant experience designing, implementing and leading identity and access management capabilities.
• Strong expertise in IAM technologies, identity governance and zero trust approaches.
• Experience leading technical teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Ability to translate complex concepts into practical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop Co-op's IAM capability across the organization.
• Embed IAM standards, frameworks and best practices balancing security and business needs.
• Lead identity engineering and access control operations teams.
• Drive adoption of modern identity security approaches including Zero Trust.
• Partner with architecture, engineering and security to design secure identity solutions.
• Provide oversight for identity controls, audits and risk management.
• Coach and mentor IAM colleagues to build future talent.
