Job summary

SP Energy Networks' MANWEB business seeks a Senior Main Plant Design Engineer to deliver high‑voltage substations across North Wales, Merseyside, Cheshire and North Shropshire. You will lead from feasibility to commissioning, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

The role requires 132kV/33kV experience, safety by design, and mentoring developing engineers. Hybrid pattern and extensive travel across the SP Manweb licence area are expected.

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Significant HV substation main plant design experience (132kV/33kV).
• Knowledge of transformers, AIS/GIS switchgear, instrument transformers, and busbars.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 132kV/33kV substation main plant designs from feasibility to commissioning.
• Prepare design calculations, specifications, drawings and procurement docs.
• Ensure designs meet CDM, safety standards, SP Energy Networks procedures.
