Job summary

SP Energy Networks in Prenton (office base) with hybrid working pattern is seeking a Senior Cable Design Engineer to shape the development of high-voltage cable systems from feasibility to detailed design.

You will manage high-value projects, mentor junior staff, coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, and ensure compliance with safety and CDM standards. Join us to support Net Zero ambitions across North Wales and North West England.

Qualifications

• Degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent practical experience in high-voltage cable engineering.
• Significant experience with high-voltage power cables and associated equipment.
• Proven ability to manage technically complex projects with compliance to standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver cable engineering solutions from feasibility to detailed design.
• Prepare specifications, assess submissions, and ensure compliance with legislation and requirements.
• Drive route and construction planning, manage documentation for delivery teams.
• Provide specialist input to resolve site/cable issues and promote best practices.
• Mentor less experienced staff and contribute to training and safety packages.
