Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to work on HV substation design projects across the UK and Ireland. You will contribute from concept through energisation on grid-scale infrastructure, collaborating with utilities and data centre operators.

You will produce primary plant layouts, equipment specifications, and provide input on major projects, while supporting Owners' Engineer roles and HV design across renewable energy schemes. Fluent English required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Experience on HV projects with utilities or developers preferred.
• Experience as designer or project engineer on substations and HV assets.
• Developing specifications for substation control systems, transformers, GIS and AIS switchgear.
• Ability to work across multiple projects and locations.
• Fluent English and strong technical report writing.
• Full driving license and access to a vehicle for site visits.

Responsibilities

• Produce primary plant layouts for HV substations.
• Produce equipment specifications for HV plant and related equipment.
• Provide engineering design input to major infrastructure projects.
• Undertake an Owners' Engineer role on HV substation, cable and OHL projects.
• Provide HV design input to renewable energy projects (battery storage, solar, hydro, wind).
• Provide professional services to clients in Ireland/UK and overseas.
