Job summary

AECOM in the United Kingdom seeks an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to shape HV substations and grid-scale energy projects. Based in the UK or Ireland, you’ll contribute across concept through energisation on major infrastructure assignments.

You will work with utilities and hyperscalers, delivering high-impact designs and professional services across Ireland/UK and beyond. A hybrid work model is offered.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience of working on HV projects.
• Experience with major utilities or developers.
• Experience as a designer or project engineer.
• Experience developing specifications for substation control systems, transformers, GIS and AIS switchgear.
• Ability to work flexibly across multiple projects.
• Fluency in English.
• Experience in technical report writing.
• Full driving licence and access to a personal vehicle as site visits may be required.
• Ideally multi-disciplinary engineering project experience.
• Ideally Chartered accreditation or working toward status.
• Ideally consultancy experience.
• Ideally experience in reviewing detailed designs and witnessing construction site activities.

Responsibilities

• Produce primary plant layouts for HV substations.
• Produce equipment specifications for HV plant and associated equipment.
• Provide engineering design input to major infrastructure projects.
• Undertake an Owners’ Engineer role on HV substation/cable and OHL projects.
• Provide HV design input to renewable energy projects (battery storage, solar, hydro and wind).
• Provide professional services to clients in Ireland/UK and overseas.
