Job summary

AECOM in the UK and Ireland is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to shape HV substations from concept to energisation. You will contribute to an exciting portfolio of grid-scale infrastructure projects and work with major utilities, developers and multinational teams.

You'll produce primary plant layouts, specify HV equipment, provide design input to major schemes, and play an Owners’ Engineer role on HV and related projects, including renewable energy applications such as

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience on HV projects.
• Experience with major utilities or developers.
• Experience as a designer or project engineer.
• Experience developing specifications for substation control systems, transformers, GIS, and AIS switchgear.
• Ability to work flexibly across multiple projects.
• Fluency in English.
• Experience in technical report writing.
• Full driving license and access to a personal vehicle as site visits may be required.
• Ideally experience across multi-discipline engineering projects.
• Ideally Chartered accreditation or working toward status.
• Ideally consultancy experience.
• Ideally experience reviewing detailed designs and witnessing construction activities.

Responsibilities

• Produce primary plant layouts for HV substations.
• Produce equipment specifications for HV plant and related equipment.
• Provide engineering design input to major infrastructure projects.
• Undertake an Owners’ Engineer role on HV substation, cable and OHL projects.
• Provide HV design input to renewable energy projects (storage, solar, wind).
• Provide services to clients in Ireland/UK and overseas.
