Job summary

AECOM is looking for an experienced HV Substation Design engineer to lead design input on major energy infrastructure projects in the UK. You will produce primary plant layouts, develop HV equipment specifications, and guide multi-disciplinary teams through FEED and detailed design stages.

You'll collaborate with national grid and utility clients, manage tender activities, and mentor junior engineers within a hybrid working environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering and relevant consultancy or utility experience.
• Experience with FEED and detailed design for HV infrastructure.
• Knowledge of AIS and GIS HV plant equipment.

Responsibilities

• Produce primary plant layouts for HV substations.
• Lead engineering design input to major infrastructure projects.
• Undertake project development and pre-construction activities, including cable routing decisions.
• Develop equipment specifications for HV plant and related equipment.
• Develop specifications with technology specialists and external partners.
• Prepare tender specifications and conduct evaluations.
• Provide design assurance of tender documentation and supplier meetings.
• Review supplier designs during construction and support commissioning.
• Be a trusted partner to clients and mentor juniors.
