Job summary

AECOM is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our HV Substation Design team in the UK. You will lead design delivery on major energy infrastructure projects, producing primary plant layouts and electrical specifications for HV systems, including FEED and detailed design stages.

You will collaborate with clients and partners, manage multiple projects, and contribute to tendering, design assurance, and commissioning support.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience with consultancy, contractor or utility in energy sector.
• Experience with National Grid, ESB, EirGrid, SHET, SSE, SPT or other UK/ Ireland transmission utility.
• FEED designer or owners engineer in HV projects.
• Experience in HV plant and equipment design.
• Budget, time and quality project management experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Produce primary plant layouts for HV substations.
• Lead engineering design input to major infrastructure projects.
• Undertake Project Development/Pre-construction activities, e.g. cable routes considerations.
• Undertake equipment specifications for HV Plant and related equipment.
• Develop specifications with specialists and external partners.
• Develop tender specifications and evaluate tenders.
• Provide design assurance of tender docs and supplier meetings.
• Review supplier designs during construction and support commissioning.
