Job summary

AECOM is seeking a senior electrical engineer to lead HV substation design and FEED activities within a dynamic transmission and distribution team. You will deliver primary plant layouts, lead design input on major projects, and guide optimal cable routes with an emphasis on safety, quality, and client satisfaction.

Ideal candidates will have consultancy or utility experience in the energy sector, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects across UK sites.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience as FEED designer, detailed design, or owner's engineer role.
• Exposure to HV plant infrastructure and equipment (AIS/GIS).

Responsibilities

• Produce primary plant layouts for HV substations.
• Lead engineering design input to major infrastructure projects.
• Develop optimum cable routes considering length, thermal conditions and land use.
• Specify HV plant equipment and partner with technology specialists.
• Develop tender specifications and conduct tender evaluations.
• Provide design assurance of tender documentation and supplier meetings.
• Review supplier designs during construction and support commissioning.
• Be a trusted partner to clients and mentor junior team members.
