Job summary

AECOM is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our HV Substation Design team in the UK. You will produce primary plant layouts, lead design input on major projects, and drive pre-construction activities including optimal cable route development.

Your role spans FEED to construction, ensuring design assurance and client collaboration across multi-discipline teams. You’ll work within a hybrid model, benefiting from AECOM’s development programs, and mentoring junior engineers while

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Experience with consultancy, contractor or utility in the energy sector.
• Client experience with National Grid, ESB, EirGrid, SHET, SSE, SPT or any other transmission utility or developer in UK or Ireland.
• FEED designer, detailed design or owner’s engineer experience.
• Experience designing HV infrastructure at concept and FEED design stages.
• Understanding of electrical AC HV Plant infrastructure and equipment AIS and GIS.
• Full driving licence.
• Ideally project management experience (budget, time and quality).
• Experience managing multi-discipline engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Produce primary plant layouts for HV substations.
• Lead engineering design input to major infrastructure projects.
• Undertake Project Development/Pre-construction activities and develop optimum cable routes.
• Undertake equipment specifications for HV Plant and associated equipment.
• Develop specifications with technology specialists and external partners.
• Develop tender specifications and undertake tender evaluations.
• Provide design assurance of tender documentation and supplier meetings.
• Review supplier designs at construction phase and support commissioning.
• Be a trusted partner to key clients.
• Offer mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
