Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join the HV Substation Design team in a hybrid UK role. You will lead design input on major infrastructure projects and develop primary plant layouts for HV substations.

You’ll specify equipment, develop tender data, and perform design assurance and commissioning support, while mentoring junior engineers and partnering with key clients.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with energy sector experience.
• Consultancy, contractor or utility background in energy sector preferred.
• Experience with National Grid, ESB, EirGrid, SHET, SSE or similar UK/IRE utility.

Responsibilities

• Produce primary plant layouts for HV substations.
• Lead engineering design input to major infrastructure projects.
• Develop optimum cable routes considering length, thermal conditions and land use.
• Specify HV Plant equipment and interface with specialists.
• Develop tender specifications and evaluate tenders.
• Provide design assurance during tender evaluations and supplier meetings.
• Review supplier designs at construction, conduct audits, assist commissioning.
• Be a trusted partner to key clients and mentor junior staff.
