Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to join the HV Substation Design team in the UK. You will lead design delivery on major energy infrastructure projects, producing primary plant layouts for HV substations and guiding FEED and detailed design stages for marquee clients.

The role emphasizes client engagement, tender development, and design assurance, with mentorship of junior staff and a flexible hybrid working model.

Qualifications

Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
Experience with consultancy/utility in energy sector.
Client experience with transmission utilities (UK/Ireland).
Experience as FEED designer, detailed design or owners engineer.
HV infrastructure design at concept and FEED stages.
Understanding AIS and GIS HV plant equipment.

Responsibilities

Produce primary plant layouts for HV substations.
Lead engineering design input to major infrastructure projects.
Develop project development/pre-construction activities, incl. cable routes.
Develop equipment specifications for HV plant and related equipment.
Develop tender specifications with specialists and external partners.
Undertake tender evaluations.
Provide design assurance of tender documents and supplier meetings.
Review supplier designs during construction; assist with FAT and commissioning support.
Mentor junior team members and partner with key clients.
Collaborate across multiple projects and manage multi-discipline teams.
