Job summary

AECOM in the UK is seeking a talented electrical engineer to join the HV Substation Design team, leading design delivery on major infrastructure projects including the Great Grid Upgrade and data centre hubs. This role currently offers a hybrid working model.

You will produce primary plant layouts for HV substations, lead design input, and develop tender specifications for major energy projects. Strong FEED/detailed design experience and client-facing skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Experience in consultancy, contractor or utility in the energy sector is preferred.
• FEED or detailed design experience is advantageous.
• Knowledge of electrical AC HV Plant infrastructure (AIS/GIS) is essential.

Responsibilities

• Produce primary plant layouts for HV substations.
• Lead engineering design input to major infrastructure projects.
• Develop optimum cable routes considering length, thermal conditions and land use.
• Develop tender specifications and undertake tender evaluations.
• Provide design assurance during tender and supplier meetings.
• Support commissioning and fault resolution at construction phase.
• Mentor junior team members and liaise with clients.
