Job summary

Serco at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary is seeking a Senior Technician to lead Building Support Assistants and keep hospital facilities and engineering systems safe, reliable and compliant. You will manage maintenance, fault finding, calibration, and improvements across a busy healthcare environment.

This hands-on role includes an on-call rota, supervising staff, and coordinating with contractors to ensure continuity of patient care and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• ONC/HNC/HND in Engineering or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience in fault finding and planned maintenance of complex engineering systems.
• Comfort with digital systems and hospital environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out multi-skilled maintenance across building fabric and engineering systems.
• Diagnose faults and undertake calibration, testing, and commissioning.
• Ensure work complies with safety standards and procedures.
• Use CAFM and handheld tech to record activities and data.
• Join the on-call rota to support critical hospital operations.
• Provide guidance to colleagues and supervise technicians.
