Job summary

NHS Scotland is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for Leverndale/Dykebar Hospital to join the Estates team. The role involves reactive and planned maintenance across the campus with a strong emphasis on safety and training apprentices.

The successful candidate will be a time-served mechanical engineer, ideally with an HNC or working toward it, and will work within a multi-skilled team delivering building services across medical gas, HVAC and utilities.

Qualifications

• Time-served mechanical engineer with HNC level or working toward.
• Post-apprenticeship experience in mechanical/engineering roles.
• Formal apprenticeship in Electrical/Mechanical/Plumbing with appropriate qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe environment for clinical care delivery.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs.
• Install, commission and service machinery using manuals and safety standards.
• Interpret technical data and wiring diagrams for building services.
• Use BMS to monitor and adjust environmental controls across the hospital.
• Respond to breakdowns and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime.
• Maintain electrical safety in accordance with regulations and standards.
