Job summary

Kier Group plc. is seeking a Senior Technology Design Engineer to lead the delivery and assurance of highways technology solutions across major infrastructure programmes in Manchester.

You will act as a technical authority, owning design outputs from concept through to implementation, ensuring right-first-time delivery and compliance with National Highways standards. You will drive integration across civil, electrical, mechanical and systems teams, mentor engineers, and contribute to bids with

Qualifications

• HNC/Degree-qualified in Electrical, Electronic, Communications or Technology Engineering.
• Strong ITS expertise in highways technology.
• Experience leading design delivery and technical assurance activities.
• Knowledge of National Highways standards and governance frameworks (DMRB).

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of design outputs from concept through to implementation.
• Drive multidisciplinary integration across civil, electrical and systems teams.
• Lead design assurance, reviews and governance-compliant outputs.
• Communicate technical risks and solutions to clients and stakeholders.
• Lead the delivery of complex technology design (ITS, communications, power) from concept to implementation.
• Own design outputs to ensure buildability and right-first-time delivery.
• Act as technical authority in design assurance and gateway approvals.
• Ensure compliance with DMRB and National Highways standards and manage technical risk.
• Provide SME leadership across ITS, networks and smart infrastructure.
• Mentor and develop engineers, building high-performance teams.
• Support bids with innovative, compliant, competitive solutions.
