Job summary

Kier Group plc is seeking a Technology Design Engineer in Salford to deliver highways technology designs across ITS, communications, power and digital infrastructure. You will develop, coordinate and assure designs for compliant, buildable solutions aligned with client requirements.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to safe, efficient and future-ready infrastructure across major UK projects and support design assurance and governance processes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Communications or Technology Engineering (or working towards).
• Experience in highways or infrastructure technology design.
• Knowledge of National Highways standards (DMRB, TA401).
• Experience with ITS, telecoms/IP networks, and power/control systems.
• Experience using CAD or digital engineering tools.

Responsibilities

• Deliver technology design across ITS, communications, power and digital infrastructure.
• Produce drawings, specs and technical documentation (2D/3D).
• Ensure compliance with DMRB, National Highways and industry standards.
• Apply design assurance, supporting reviews and gateway compliance.
• Identify and mitigate technical risk for right-first-time delivery.
• Support ITS, comms networks and smart / IoT-enabled infrastructure.
• Collaborate with clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.
• Contribute to bids, innovation, digital engineering and team development.
