Overview

Newham University Hospital is looking to recruit a Senior Healthcare Support Worker (HCA) Band 3 who will work Plashet Ward at Newham University Hospital. This post attracts individuals who are new to care. You will receive support to complete the Band 3 competencies and progress into a Band 3 role within 6 months upon successful completion of all required competencies; until then, you will be placed at a Band 2 salary.

PLEASE NOTE – WE ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE SPONSORSHIP FOR THIS ROLE.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake a range of delegated clinical tasks under direct supervision of the registered nurse, including supporting patients’ nutritional and hydration needs and ensuring comfort, wellbeing, and safety.
  • Patient observations (e.g., monitoring vital signs).
  • Assisting with personal care and mobility.
  • Supporting patients’ nutritional and hydration needs.
  • Carrying out a limited range of delegated duties (e.g. taking blood pressure, recording ECG, MRSA screening).
  • Simple wound dressings.
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork and communication skills.
About the Role and Team

The post holder will be an integral part of the nursing team and contribute to meeting the needs of patients and the service in accordance with agreed standards.

The post holder will continue to develop essential competencies through training and practice to ensure safety and quality are the priority.
