Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Engineering Geologist to join the Energy unit in the UK. You will lead geotechnical design, ground investigation oversight, and reporting across civil projects, collaborating with engineers across disciplines.

Essential qualifications include a geology degree (chartered) and energy sector experience, with strong communication skills and willingness to travel to sites. Hybrid working arrangements are available.

Qualifications

• Must have geotechnical design knowledge relating to foundations, earthworks, slope stability, retaining structures and ground improvement.
• Experience in cost estimation and program management for ground investigations and design phases.
• Knowledge of Eurocodes, BS standards, and local regulations.
• Environmental and sustainability considerations in project work.
• Willingness to travel to project sites for delivery and client liaison meetings.
• Good communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical desk studies and reviews of existing reporting.
• Manage site and office investigation contractors, review RAMs and safety compliance.
• Prepare scope and specifications for ground investigations and develop ground models for design.
• Produce Geotechnical Interpretative Reports and Geotechnical Design Reports.
• Perform geotechnical analysis and ground modelling using appropriate software.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers to deliver integrated geotechnical assessments.
• Assess ground hazards and communicate solutions to project teams.
• Support proposals and client tender packages.
