Job summary

Mott MacDonald, the global engineering and development consultancy, is seeking aSenior Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our Civil and Structural team. The role focuses on leading geotechnical packages, ground modelling, and design input across energy and infrastructure projects.

You will work with a wide range of disciplines, mentor engineers, and ensure geotechnical integrity from concept to delivery, with travel nationally and internationally as required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (or similar).
• Chartered Engineer status ICE or equivalent.
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally.
• Significant experience in geotechnical engineering consultancy.
• Experience leading geotechnical packages on complex infrastructure projects.
• Sound knowledge of geotechnical design principles (foundations, earthworks, slope stability).
• Familiarity with Eurocodes and British Standards; strong report writing and communication.

Responsibilities

• Geotechnical desks studies and preliminary assessments.
• Ground investigation contract administration and data interpretation.
• Lead reviews of geotechnical reports and provide design input.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams for integrated project delivery.
• Mentor junior engineers and manage client relationships.
