Job summary

Mott MacDonald is recruiting an Engineering Geologist for our Energy unit in the UK. The role focuses on geotechnical desk studies, ground investigations, and producing interpretative reports to support design across wind, nuclear, and energy projects.

You will work with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated geotechnical assessments, manage on-site contractors, and contribute to the delivery of safe, efficient project outcomes. Hybrid working is available.

Qualifications

• Degree in geology, engineering geology or geotechnical engineering.
• Experience in Energy developments across Transmission and Distribution, Energy Generation, or Nuclear sectors.
• Knowledge of Eurocodes, BS standards, and local regulations.
• Experience in ground investigation site works and managing Geotechnical Investigation contractors on site.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
• Good communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Carry out geotechnical desk studies, preliminary assessments and review of existing geotechnical reports.
• Prepare ground investigation scope, specifications and interpret data for ground model support to design.
• Manage on-site and off-site investigation contractors, review RAMs and ensure health and safety compliance.
• Prepare Geotechnical Interpretative Reports.
• Develop ground models and collaborate with engineers from other disciplines for integrated assessments.
• Assess ground hazards and communicate suitable mitigation solutions.
