Job summary

Citi is seeking a highly capable, hands-on Java engineer to join its FX Technology group in a hybrid London role. You will lead and code, driving ultra-low-latency solutions across multiple asset classes while developing and mentoring teams.

The role emphasizes architectural leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and adherence to best practices. The successful candidate will work with trading and quant teams, delivering new systems, replacing legacy ones, and shaping engineering culture

Qualifications

• Hands-on Java engineering with deep dive into product and codebase.
• Experience with ultra-low-latency development practices.
• FX domain knowledge is highly preferred.
• Proven ability to build and replace legacy systems and create new ones.
• Strong systems knowledge across software, hardware, and networks; excellent communicator.

Responsibilities

• Hands on role – includes both technical implementation and thought leadership.
• Writing code frequently.
• Manage and inspire a high-quality team of engineers.
• Define and implement solutions with FX Tech to benefit the business and multiple asset classes.
• Lead staff forums and communicate updates across the organization.
• Drive architecture design and development; ensure deliverables meet standards.
• Ensure staff follow Citi policies and maintain documentation.
