Job summary

Luxoft is recruiting a Forward Deployed Engineer in the United Kingdom to drive security, reliability, and modernization of banking-grade applications. You will lead hands-on engagements with client development teams, define remediation approaches, and implement critical changes yourself to enable long-term improvement.

You will combine senior software engineering, DevOps, SRE, test automation, and application security, with roughly 70% coding and configuration work.

Qualifications

• Hands-on software engineering with production code contributions in Java/JVM.
• Experience with Spring and modernizing Java enterprise apps.
• Strong TypeScript skills for Node.js projects are a plus.
• Proven ability to write and review production code and tests.
• Experience upgrading runtimes/frameworks and container platforms.
• Secure coding, vulnerability fixes, and dependency risk management.
• Proficient Linux system admin and CI/CD tooling usage.
• Excellent client-facing communication and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead targeted technical engagements addressing security, testing, release, resilience, and legacy tech with development teams.
• Assess code, dependencies, runtime, test coverage, CI/CD, observability and risks.
• Write, debug, review, and enhance production-grade code and config.
• Define modernization plans with priorities, risks, and measurable outcomes.
• Develop unit, integration, and deployment tests; drive test automation.
• Implement automation testing approaches and AI-assisted coding.
• Secure data masking and test data sourcing for environments.
• Perform vulnerability triage, root-cause, and regression testing.
• Upgrade Java/JVM, NPM, Spring, and related stacks; modernize middleware.
• Containerize apps with Docker; support OpenShift deployments.
• Improve source control, PRs, and code reviews; harden release processes.
• Architect resilient deployments and continuous delivery pipelines.
• Mentor teams; transfer knowledge and establish standards.
