Job summary

DXC Luxoft Financial Services is seeking an experienced Forward Deployed Engineer to help modernise business-critical applications within a banking transformation programme. This hands-on role combines Software Engineering, DevOps, SRE, Test Automation, Application Security and Legacy Modernisation.

Working directly with development teams, you'll tackle complex challenges around security remediation, release reliability, testing, observability and platform modernisation.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on software engineering experience within enterprise environments.
• Strong Java/JVM development background with recent coding experience.
• Deep expertise within the Spring ecosystem and modernising Java apps.
• Solid understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and automated testing.
• Experience building and integrating testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Secure coding practices and vulnerability remediation experience.
• Docker and container-based deployments; OpenShift/Kubernetes familiarity.
• Linux administration experience; Maven/Gradle/npm tooling knowledge.
• Advanced Git workflows and source control best practices.
• Proven ability to own projects from assessment to production deployment.

Job description

DXC Luxoft Financial Services is supporting a major banking transformation programme and is looking for an experienced Forward Deployed Engineer to help modernise business-critical applications. This is a highly hands‑on role combining Software Engineering, DevOps, SRE, Test Automation, Application Security and Legacy Modernisation. Working directly with development teams, you'll tackle complex challenges around security remediation, release reliability, testing, observability and platform modernisation. Approximately 70% of the role is hands‑on coding and technical implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical engagements focused on application security, release reliability, testing, resilience and legacy modernisation
• Assess application architecture, source code, dependencies, CI/CD pipelines, test coverage and operational risks
• Write, review, debug and enhance production-quality code and configuration
• Define and implement remediation and modernisation roadmaps with measurable outcomes
• Build and improve automated testing frameworks using Test‑Driven Development principles
• Introduce and optimise unit, integration, component, contract and deployment testing
• Conduct vulnerability analysis, remediation planning and secure code implementation
• Upgrade Java runtimes, Spring frameworks, open‑source libraries and platform dependencies to supported versions
• Modernise legacy Java applications and middleware platforms
• Improve source control, branching strategies, pull request processes and engineering standards
• Design and optimise CI/CD pipelines to enable safe, automated and repeatable releases
• Containerise applications using Docker and support deployments into OpenShift environments
• Implement observability, logging, monitoring, tracing and operational diagnostics
• Improve resilience, deployment architectures, rollback processes and production readiness
• Lead workshops, technical discussions and stakeholder engagements across engineering and business teams
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, coaching, documentation and knowledge transfer

Required Experience

• Extensive hands‑on software engineering experience within enterprise environments
• Strong Java/JVM development background with recent coding experience
• Deep expertise within the Spring ecosystem
• Experience modernising and supporting enterprise Java applications
• Strong understanding of Test‑Driven Development (TDD)
• Experience building automated testing frameworks and integrating testing into CI/CD pipelines
• Strong knowledge of secure coding practices and vulnerability remediation
• Experience analysing dependency risks and implementing secure upgrades
• Hands‑on experience with Docker and container‑based deployments
• Strong Linux administration experience, ideally within Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments
• Experience with Maven, Gradle and/or npm build tooling
• Advanced Git workflows and source control best practices
• Strong production troubleshooting and debugging skills
• Understanding of observability, monitoring and production readiness practices
• Knowledge of distributed systems and critical application engineering principles
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Proven ability to take ownership from initial assessment through to production deployment and handover
