Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a Fire Safety Engineer to lead and deliver fire safety consultancy on building and rail projects. The role involves desktop reviews, design support, and mentoring junior staff within a multidisciplinary team.

The successful candidate will apply UK fire safety standards, perform risk assessments, and contribute to bid development while coordinating with clients and design teams across the UK.

Qualifications

• Experience in a range of sectors and in a technical fire safety engineering environment.
• Ability to build rapport with clients and external/internal teams.
• Experience in writing reports and presentations for clients and teams.
• Experience in working in medium to large, multi-disciplinary environments.
• Membership with relevant professional institutions or working towards membership.

Responsibilities

• Lead fire projects and project teams (senior level and above).
• Support delivery of projects within time and cost budgets.
• Coordinate with clients, architects, project management, contractors and authorities.
• Develop Fire Safety Strategy reports for new and existing buildings.
• Conduct Means of Escape analysis including evacuation times and route assessment.
• Understand UK fire safety regulations (AD B, BS 9999/9991, BB100, etc.).
• Keep up to date with regulatory changes and rail-specific standards.
• Apply hazard management and risk-based interpretation of fire safety documents.
