Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a Fire Safety Engineer to deliver consultancy-based fire safety work across building and rail sectors in the UK. The role involves desktop reviews, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and leading projects from conception to delivery.

You will develop Fire Safety Strategy reports, conduct Means of Escape analyses, and ensure compliance with AD B, BS 9999, BS 7974, and related standards. Mentoring junior staff and contributing to bids are expected.

Qualifications

• Recent demonstrable experience in fire safety engineering across sectors and client-focused projects.
• Ability to build rapport with clients and external/internal teams.
• Robust problem-solving and accountability for assigned tasks.
• Experience in report writing and presenting to clients and teams.
• Experience in a large, multi-disciplinary environment.
• Membership or progression towards professional institutions (IFE, CABE, RICS, IET, CIOB).
• Chartered Engineer status or active progression towards it.

Responsibilities

• Lead fire safety projects and project teams, mentoring junior staff.
• Develop Fire Safety Strategy reports for new and existing buildings.
• Perform Means of Escape analysis and evacuation-related calculations.
• Apply UK fire safety regulations (AD B, BS 9999, BS 7974, BS 9991, BB100, HTM 05).
• Coordinate with clients, architects, PMs, contractors and authorities.
• Support bids, fee proposals, and business development activities.
• Attend internal and external design team meetings and client engagements.
