Job summary

Reed is seeking a Technical Support Engineer to provide hands-on engineering support across a nationwide depot network and customer sites in the UK. You will act as a technical escalation point for engineers, diagnosing faults, commissioning, repairs and upgrades, and supporting major projects.

The role blends hands-on engineering with mentoring, training, and project support, requiring strong communication, independent work ethic, and a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Experience with power generation, diesel engines or electrical plant equipment.
• Proven servicing, maintenance and repair of generator sets.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to engineers and customers across multiple locations.
• Diagnose and resolve generator, electrical, and control system faults.
• Commission, repair, modify, and upgrade power generation equipment.
• Support engineering training and mentoring activities.
• Ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with procedures.
• Conduct site surveys and commissioning visits.
• Assist with engineering improvements and project support.
